BitriPay Lite
A full web app that works with JavaScript switched off entirely, rendered on the server, so it loads on a slow connection and an old browser instead of showing a spinner.
Anyone on a slow or expensive connection, an old phone, a cheap browser, or a network that is having a bad day.
Part of the platform itself: it is present wherever BitriPay runs.
The problem
A single-page app that fails to download is a blank screen. On a congested network that is not rare, and the customer concludes the service is broken rather than the connection.
How it works
- Open the Lite address instead of the app.
- Pages are rendered on the server and delivered as plain HTML.
- Everything works through ordinary links and form submissions.
- Nothing depends on JavaScript, so nothing breaks when it fails to arrive.
What you can check
Facts about the running platform rather than adjectives. Each one is visible in the product, the API reference or the ledger.
- Lite is server-rendered and requires no JavaScript at all — not a degraded fallback, a working surface.
- It reaches the same accounts and the same ledger as the full app.
- Pages are small enough to arrive on a congested connection where a single-page bundle would not.
- It works in browsers too old for a modern application framework.
What it costs
Free, and it uses markedly less data than the full app — which on a metered connection is the point.
Questions
Is it less secure because it is simpler?
No. The same sign-in, the same PIN, the same limits and the same server-side checks apply. Nothing about security lives in the JavaScript of the full app — if it did, that would be the problem, not Lite.
Can I do everything in it?
The things that matter on a bad connection: balance, receiving, paying, requesting, and your statement. It is built for the afternoon when the network is bad.
Why not just make the main app faster?
We do that too. But there is a level of connection below which no amount of optimisation delivers a megabyte of JavaScript, and above zero customers are at that level every day.

USSD and SMS
The same ledger, the same balances and the same limits reached from a feature phone with no data — not a reduced product for poorer customers, the same product through a different door.
Offline payments
A signed promise exchanged between two phones with no network at all, with counters and nonces so the same promise cannot be spent twice when the signal returns.
Alerts you cannot miss
A loud alarm and a long vibration designed to be heard across a market and understood without reading, because the sound is the receipt a trader actually relies on.
